This charming, petite resort town features winding, narrow roads that twist and turn through the landscape, alongside a perennial stream that flows like a ribbon cutting through the scenery year-round. Often referred to as a "sea of clouds," Tam Dao is frequently enveloped in white mist, creating a mystical atmosphere. The region is defined by its ethereal clouds, with three prominent peaks emerging from the misty veil: Ban Thach (1,388m), Thien Nhi (1,375m), and Phu Nghia (1,400m). Detailed Itinerary
07:30 - 08:00: The bus and tour guide pick up guests at designated meeting points in Hanoi’s Old Quarter or the Hanoi Opera House to begin the journey to Tam Dao.
09:00: Arrive at the Tay Thien Scenic Area. Guests will walk to explore:
- Dai Bao Thap Mandala: A grand structure modeled after Indian architectural styles.
- Thong Temple: Featuring the iconic nine-rooted banyan tree. Guests then choose one of two options:
- Option 1: Walk to visit Truc Lam Zen Monastery, one of Vietnam’s prominent training centers for Buddhist monks and nuns. Guests can explore the Drum Tower, Bell Tower, classrooms, and other facilities. Reaching the highest level of the monastery offers a breathtaking view, as if looking down from the heavens to the mortal world—a rare and awe-inspiring sight.
- Option 2: Conquer the Tay Thien Peak. Guests take a cable car (at their own expense) to enjoy the majestic mountain and forest scenery of Tay Thien, with views of the Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac) from the cable car cabin. Upon reaching the cable car’s summit, guests continue to explore a series of sites, including Co Chin Temple, Mau Dia Temple, Thuong Quoc Mau Temple, Patriarch’s Shrine, Zen Master’s Shrine, Tay Thien Pagoda, and finally, the Fairy Chessboard at the peak of Tay Thien, along with other attractions.
11:30: Lunch at a restaurant in Tay Thien. After lunch, guests board the bus to continue to Tam Dao.
13:00: Arrive in Tam Dao. Guests visit and take photos at scenic spots around the town, including:
- Tam Dao Central Square: A vibrant hub of the town.
- Colorful Street: Known for its unique architectural charm.
- Tam Dao Stone Church: A distinctive structure built between 1906 and 1912, located in the heart of Tam Dao town along the road leading to Thien Mountain.
14:00: The tour guide leads guests on a walking tour to:
- Tam Dao Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac): The path to the waterfall is relatively short but steep and rugged, with green stone steps carved into the mountain, one side flanked by cliffs and the other by a deep abyss.
- Quan Gio (Wind Cafe): A famous cafe in Tam Dao where guests can sip a warm coffee (at their own expense) while admiring the majestic and poetic scenery of the region.
16:00: Guests gather to board the bus for the return to Hanoi, with a brief stop en route for rest.
18:00: Arrive back in Hanoi, concluding the tour. Farewell and see you again!
Inclusions
- Modern air-conditioned tourist bus (5 to 29 seats, depending on group size) for transportation as per the itinerary.
- One lunch meal at Tay Thien restaurant, as per the itinerary.
- Entrance fees for attractions included in the program.
- Enthusiastic, experienced tour guide accompanying the group throughout the tour.
Exclusions
- 10% VAT invoice (no additional charge if an invoice is not required).
- Travel insurance (due to the nature of this daily group tour).
- Electric vehicle or cable car tickets at Tay Thien.
- Drinking water on the bus (due to the short travel duration).
- Drinks during meals.
- Any services or expenses not mentioned in the program.
- Surcharge for foreign guests: 100,000 VND/guest.
Children Policy
- Ages 1-4: Free of charge (no seat on the bus; parents cover all related expenses). Two adults can bring one free child; additional children are charged at 75% of the tour price (includes services equivalent to children aged 5-9).
- Note: If one adult accompanies a free child (ages 1-4), the child must purchase 50% of the adult tour price (includes services equivalent to children aged 5-9).
- Ages 5-9: 75% of the tour price (includes a separate meal and bus seat but shares a bed with parents). Two children charged at this rate do not receive a separate bed.
- Ages 10 and above: Charged as adults, with full adult services.
General Notes
- Guests must bring valid identification (ID card/passport). Children under 14 must carry a birth certificate at minimum. Children 14 and older must have an ID card or passport.
- It is recommended to bring common medications for diarrhea or fever.
- Vegetarian guests should bring their own vegetarian food to suit their preferences.
- Any services in the tour not used, unless due to the tour operator’s fault, will not be refunded.
- The tour guide reserves the right to rearrange the order of visits to suit the specific conditions of each departure day, provided all listed attractions are covered.
- For tours with 10 or fewer guests, or when using 4-, 7-, or 16-seat vehicles, the driver may also serve as the guide. These drivers are experienced in leading tours.
Guest Responsibilities
- Guests are responsible for their own health in all circumstances. They must inform the tour operator of any personal medical conditions to receive additional health-related advice for each tour.
- Guests must safeguard their personal belongings at all times and locations during the trip. The tour operator is not responsible for losses of money, valuables, flight tickets, or personal property during the tour.
