Hanoi Announces Traffic Ban and Restriction Plan to Serve the 80th National Day Ceremony

The Hanoi City Police have announced the traffic diversion, ban, and restriction measures on multiple streets to facilitate the Ceremony commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025). The event will feature parades, marches, and grand activities, starting at 6:30 AM on September 2, 2025.

Prior to the main event, rehearsals, preliminary reviews, and full reviews will take place as follows:

  • Rehearsal 1: 8:00 PM on August 21, 2025 Rehearsal 2: 8:00 PM on August 24, 2025 Preliminary Review: 8:00 PM on August 27, 2025 Full Review: 6:30 AM on August 30, 2025

1. Complete Ban Periods

  • 5:00 PM on August 21 to 3:00 AM on August 22
  • 5:00 PM on August 24 to 3:00 AM on August 25
  • 5:00 PM on August 27 to 3:00 AM on August 28
  • 6:00 PM on August 29 to 3:00 PM on August 30
  • 6:00 PM on September 1 to 3:00 PM on September 2

The following streets will be completely closed (except for vehicles with security passes, official vehicles, and those serving the ceremony): Hoang Hoa Tham, Thuy Khue (from Hung Vuong to Van Cao), Mai Xuan Thuong, Quan Thanh, Phan Dinh Phung, Hung Vuong, Thanh Nien, Hoang Van Thu, Doc Lap, Dien Bien Phu, Ba Huyen Thanh Quan, Chua Mot Cot, Le Hong Phong, Ong Ich Khiem, Ngoc Ha, Bac Son, Ton That Dam, Nguyen Canh Chan, Hoang Dieu, Nguyen Tri Phuong, Chu Van An, Ton Duc Thang, Cat Linh, Trinh Hoai Duc, Hang Chao, Tran Phu, Son Tay, Kim Ma, Lieu Giai, Van Cao, Nghi Tam, Yen Phu, Cua Bac, Doi Can, Doc La-Pho, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Le Duan, Tran Nhan Tong (from Le Duan to Quang Trung), Trang Thi, Hang Khay, Trang Tien, Co Tan, Phan Chu Trinh (from Hai Ba Trung to Trang Tien), Le Thanh Tong, Tong Dan (from Ly Dao Thanh to Trang Tien), Tran Quang Khai, Tran Khanh Du, Quang Trung (from Ly Thuong Kiet to Trang Thi), Ly Thai To, Nguyen Huu Huan, Ngo Quyen (from NHNN Square to Trang Tien), Giang Vo, Lang Ha, Lang (from Lang Ha to Tran Duy Hung).

2. Temporary Bans and Recommended Restrictions

  • Time: Same as the complete ban periods above. Inside Ring Road I: Temporary ban on all vehicles (except priority vehicles, official vehicles, buses, garbage trucks, emergency vehicles, and those serving the ceremony). From Ring Road I to Ring Road II: Temporary ban on trucks ≥1.5 tons and passenger vehicles ≥16 seats (except permitted vehicles). From Ring Road II to Ring Road III: Recommended restriction on passenger vehicles <16 seats, private cars, and motorcycles. Routes from Ring Road III to outer districts (QL32, Cau Dien Bridge, Ho Tung Mau, Le Duc Tho, Thang Long Avenue, QL21A, QL6, Vo Nguyen Giap, QL18...): Restricted traffic (except permitted vehicles).
  • General Requirements: No stopping or parking on banned or temporarily banned routes.

3. Alternative Routes

  • Vehicles from National Highway 5, Hanoi – Bac Giang Expressway, Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway heading to Cau Gie – Ninh Binh: Via Thanh Tri Bridge → Ring Road III Elevated → Do Muoi → Cau Gie – Ninh Binh Expressway.
  • Vehicles from eastern provinces heading north/west/northwest: Phu Dong Bridge → Thanh Tri Bridge → Ring Road III Elevated → Thang Long Bridge → Vo Van Kiet; or National Highway 5 → Nguyen Duc Thuan → Thanh Tri Bridge → Phu Dong Bridge → Hanoi – Bac Giang Expressway → Hanoi – Thai Nguyen Expressway.
  • Vehicles from the north heading south: National Highway 2 → Vo Van Kiet → Thang Long Bridge → Ring Road III Elevated → Do Muoi → Cau Gie – Ninh Binh Expressway. Trucks ≥10 tons: Restricted to Ring Road III Elevated, minimizing exits at intersections and following instructions from authorities.

Citizens from provinces and localities attending the ceremony in Hanoi are encouraged to use passenger transport vehicles, public transportation, especially elevated metro lines (Line 2A Cat Linh - Ha Dong: From Yen Nghia Station in Ha Dong Ward to Cat Linh Station in O Cho Dua Ward; Line 3 Nhon - Hanoi Station: From Nhon Station in Tay Tuu Ward to Cau Giay Station in Giang Vo Ward); walk on certain streets in Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Cua Nam, Hai Ba Trung, Giang Vo, Ngoc Ha wards and areas around Ba Dinh Square; follow instructions from authorities, stand on sidewalks, avoid crowding or spilling onto roads that obstruct marching units, parade blocks...; proactively access and review relevant information before participating in the ceremony activities on the website: https://a80.hanoi.gov.vn.

To ensure security and safety, contributing to the successful organization of the Ceremony, road users are requested to voluntarily and strictly comply with the Road Traffic Order and Safety Law; when encountering priority vehicles with active signals on duty, promptly move to the right shoulder, stop completely, or divert to the nearest intersection or crossing point to yield to the priority convoy.
